OTAKU-ISM UNLEASHED
SUNDAY, APRIL 29TH, 2009 HANNAH

A little not-so-secret thing about me is that i absolutely LOVE Anime. I am trying to watch as many animes as I can before Comic-Con comes to San Diego so that I can recognize more things! hahah. As of late, I started watching a fairly older anime called Ceres Celestial Legend. I like to call it by its Japanese name...ayashi no ceres. anyways, it's REALLY REALLY GOOD! It's not so much a girly anime or a slice of life type. It's more....action/adventure! I'm super girly, but I don't like to watch a lot of girly animes because (no offense) they're boring. Exceptions include Ouran High School Host Club and Special A. I was talking to my friend yesterday and I was amazed at how many anime's he's watched! He even admitted to watching girly ones, which I think is super cool to admit. Anyways, i'll include a plot summary ~

"Ceres was a tennyo (Celestial maiden) who came down from the heavens to bathe in a stream. She hung her hagoromo (robe) on a tree nearby, which was her key to returning to the heavens. But the robe was stolen and the man who had stolen it forced her to become his wife, thus producing a family full of human and tennyo blood mixed. Now, in modern day time, Aya Mikage is a descendent of Ceres, and has quite an amount tennyo blood. On her 16th birthday, she and her twin brother, Aki, are thrown a party. At the "party", Aya's grandpa plans to kill her, for she has tennyo powers unlike the rest of the family, and can actually become Ceres herself and destroy the Mikage family. Aya, however, can switch back, so this transformation happens quite frequently. With protector Yuhi by her side, it is up to Aya to control Ceres and keep her from coming back, but her relationship with an ex-worker for her evil grandpa may be a distraction. "

Also, you can't watch anime without good anime snack food! I love eating your generic pocky, since everyone knows about it, haichuu, MILK TEA, and lots of rice crackers.

JUST ANOTHER APRIL DAY
SUNDAY, APRIL 26TH, 2009 HANNAH

Sorry for not blogging a while! This week was super busy because I started working out again! I want to lose weight before I go to Japan because they're all so skinny there!

So yesterday was one of my best friend's birthday. We have the tradition of dressing up semi-formal and then just going out to dinner. It gives us an excuse to dress up in those dresses we always buy but never wear or have an occasion to wear it TO. So it turns out I was the most dressed up >.< and looked like I was going to Prom all over again. Oh well, at least I got to wear my dress!

LEFT: Me and my friend. We always match even though it's on accident!

My closest group of friends <3 love them! Girl in the pink dress was the birthday girl! [ 20 years old! ]

I made my friend a blanket so that she can take it to Japan when we go next Fall! I was going to put up a tutorial on the blog, but the pictures weren't coming out right! Don't worry, I'll probably put up a tutorial soon because I want to make another one.

LEFT: The blanket was one of those fleece tie blankets! Fairly simple to make, just time consuming because of the ties. No sewing at all!
RIGHT: These are the materials I used. Usually you should try to find a print you like, then contrast it with a simple color print that matches the print! My pink solid matched the owl exactly, I was so surprised! Also, the textile print is more expensive than a color block print. If you really need help, I searched Youtube for a simple tutorial! just type in "how to make a fleece tie blanket".  Oh the wonders of Youtube!

Lastly, I bought a couple things at the mall yesterday ^__^ I FINALLY bought something NEW!!! It's been MONTHS since I last bought any clothes. I only bought a new super simple dress from Forever 21, but at least it's something!

LEFT: Make-up cloth removers! They smelled so yummy I just had to get them. I love those cloths that take off your make up. It's especially useful before working out, and also when we get lazy at night. heheh.
MIDDLE: The navy blue dress from Forever21. It was part of the Fabulous Finds!
RIGHT: An extremely SOFT heather-blue nightgown I picked up. $5 ~ can't beat that price!

Close ups of the dresses! <3

WORD OF ADVICE~~

NEVER eat this!!! Don't get me wrong, i LOVE haichuu, but this is the flavor of abomination (strawberry cheesecake). It is seriously so disgusting! it just tastes like rotten, warm cheese. even the package smells gross once you open it! Okay, that's it. hahah <3

KOREAN LOVE
TUESDAY, APRIL 22TH, 2009 HANNAH

So I borrowed the new BoA album from my friend. It's pretty good! I was so surprised to find out that she's Korean instead of Japanese, but either way, I love her voice! I noticed a lot of Korean people are fluent in Japanese and sing in Japanese really well, such as my favorite band of ALL TIME, Tohoshinki!! I'm also glad she's singing in English. I think this is her first English album, but correct me if I'm wrong! I recommend getting it -- it's only $13.99 at Target!

  Speaking of Koreans...

Last week was my university's International Faire! Since I kind of help around the Global Education Office, the ones who sponsored it, I got to help set it up ! My friends and I dressed up in traditional Korean outfits! I thought they were silly and made us all look extremely fat...but I guess that's how their outfits are?

LEFT: I'm on the left, and my outfit is a more modern-day outfit. Sarah, wearing the lime green and red, is wearing an outfit a person who lives in the Royal Palace would wear.
RIGHT: Our friend Su is in the middle. She's an international student from Korea! These outfits are hers! My outfit is also for a very young girl, but since I'm so short, it fit me. -___-"

Our other friend in the middle is wearing THE traditional outfit. It was so hot that day! We all participated in a "fashion show" ... and that was the first ever (probably last) fashion show  I was in! hahah!

JAPANESE GOODIES!
SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH, 2009 HANNAH

Today was a mother-daughter day for my mama and me! So what do we do on this rare occasion? Head off to Mitsuwa and Marukai (japanese marketplaces) of course! Being the poor college student that I am, my mom bought me some goodies!

UGH! see what I mean about point-and-shoot cameras? the quality is bad and fuzzy :( all the more reason to get my nikon dslr!! heeeheheheh.

i tried to stray away from getting lots of the japanese sweets, so instead I went for crackers and biscuits ! There was a special and pizza flavored chips, so I bought those too.

Afterwards we went to the Daiso just to look around. I saw my friend who works there! I didn't find much that I really really wanted except for these ~

a cute trash can!

a cute lunch bag! ^__^

Lastly, I bought these hairpins from my work the other day since I lost my old favorite ones :(

WISH LIST!
FRIDAY, APRIL 17TH, 2009 HANNAH

I decided to make a wish list! According to my friend, he says I never want anything... but NOW I DO!

FIRST! a Nikon D60 camera カメラ

I want to start getting into photography. I am SO tired of point-and-shoot cameras! It's time for some real business~!! I test drove this camera at the local camera store, Calumet Photo. It's a perfect camera for beginners! It's Nikon's lightest and smallest dslr camera. We tried out the wide angle lens and THAT was when I fell in love <3

SECOND! a new wallet! さいふ

It's really cute on the inside. It's like a little envelope wallet. It's from Banana Republic. Made out of 100% leather and it also comes in another metallic color. It's super soft too. <3

THIRD! Shirotan しろたん!

Thanks to Jen for putting Shirotan on her blog! Once I saw him, I fell in love immediately! They actually sell him on amazon.com !! I thought you could only buy it in Japan, but I guess not! :D Ni-ni says that she'll be getting this for me for my birthday....which is next month!! ^__^

So for now, that's all I want! Perfect timing for my tax returns! hahah.

HELLO PICTURE DUMP!
TUESDAY, APRIL 14TH, 2009 HANNAH

Happy Late Easter! So I'm just photo dumping for now, but thats what makes blogs fun!

I hope everyone had a good Easter! We got this cute little dish for the easter candies, even though they're regular candy. but still yummy!

i love the pastel colors of easter.

mmm, i love Easter food! here's a picture of the appetizer plate. i liked how everything was placed on the platter. There's mozzarella slices of cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and smoked salmon. We ate them with cream cheese and bagels. mmmm!

here's my Easter outfit! I'm wearing a Free People dress. My cardigan is yellow and has cute little bows on it, but you can't see it from the picture.  :(

A couple days ago I received a gift. It's a little phone charm handmade in Korea! The little girl figurine is made out of clay so it's mushy :( cute, huh?!

I want to start taking daily snapshots of my outfits everyday, but it's such hard work to remember!

PALTY!
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1ST, 2009 HANNAH

I never posted a picture up of my new hair color! Nia recently dyed my hair a lighter shade because my roots were horrible. I used a Japanese brand called Palty. I've used a couple different shades, but my favorite so far is called Orange Biscuit. The name deceives you, but it actually lightens your hair a lot and doesn't turn out orange! I wanted that GAL (gyaru) look, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet! Tsubasa endorses palty too! From this picture, the color I used is the third one in the top row. Tsubasa's color is the last row in the middle.

I bought this at my local Japanese supermarket store for about $10. The directions are in Japanese, but if you can't read it, the pictures are good enough. The directions say to leave it in your hair for 20 minutes, but I left the dye in for about an hour. The first time I used it, I left it in for 20 minutes and I didn't see any color change. Leave it in longer for a more drastic color change!

the final product.....

just thought i would share my new car decal. hahah.
